Calving with the Washburns

Last Sunday we were invited out with Porter's family to their ranch to see some of the cows who are calving and see some newborn calves.
Ty was nervous at first, but realized there was nothing to worry about and had a good time.

This mama just had this calf and is cleaning its face. This is the calf we saw be born. The boys were playing and being kind of wild, but took quite an interest as she tended her calf.
Cooper thought he was really cool getting to ride around in the back of the truck
riding around with Porter

Brooks thought he was cool with hay in his mouth like Catherine

The boys liked it when the cows would moo. They knew cows say "moo", but I guess it had not dawned on them they would really hear them moo.

Brooks really liked the brown calves with the white face. The babies heads were still really white.

Lots of little calves! Now I have been worried about all of them in the cold and snow. I don't know how they survive with our really cold wind when they are so new.
It was a really neat thing to be about to show the boys some of the brand new calves.

What a wonderful experience and adventure. I'm so glad you get to experience things like this. Some of the real world...
Love you all, Mimi S.

I cannot believe you live somewhere where you actually get to see this stuff! Looks like you all had a great day! :-)
