A Visit From A BEAR!

This morning when I put Dixie out it was apparent we had a visit from a bear. He'd tried to get our trash can, which is "bear proof" and I guess it worked because he was unsuccessful

I always thought the bears left our trash alone because of how bad it smelled with all the diapers. It always stinks with 2 boys still in diapers.
It is not a small trash can--I have no idea how we didn't hear him as he must have made a lot of noise dragging this off the porch!

I though Dixie would have barked with the noise right out the front door. So much for Dixie being a protector--Good job Dixie :}

Cooper LOVES Dandelions

Cooper has a new obsession and it is dandelions! All kids like dandelions, but Cooper LOVES them. He will pick and blow the seeds for hours!

luckily for him there are tons in Crested Butte and no one picks or sprays them. There are yards and fields covered with the bright yellow flowers

here he is trying to blow the cotton, but he can't get his air in the same place as the dandelion. He will then just pull the top off with his hand.

sometimes he forgets and puts them in his mouthIt is very funny watching him try to get all the fuzz out of his mouth

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........dandelionsCooper doing his part to reseed all the dandelions in town!

Brooks Says the Funniest Things

Yesterday while chasing her ball on the dirt driveway Dixie was kicking up some dust. Brooks said "look how fast she is, she is really making steam" I couldn't bring myself to correct him. It was too cute.
Recently I wasn't feeling well and Brooks was going to check my forehead and take my "fevature" again I couldn't correct him, however the good laugh did help me to feel better.

Cooper on the Chopper

When we were outside today Cooper insisted on riding Ty's 'chopper'.
He can't make it go, but it makes all kind of sounds and he loves pushing the buttons

Here he had to stop and dance along with the radio. Cooper still can't hear music without dancing just a little bit.
I know it won't be long and he'll take off on the thing.

Not Something You See Everyday

Not something you see every day! I encountered this cattle drive on the road between Gunnison and Crested Butte.
I was held up for quite a while and the cows were right by my car on either side. I was late getting home to let Jenny go, and really wished the boys had been with me.I know they move the cows like this several times a summer--hopefully they can see it next time. Makes me feel like I still live in the "wild west"

Saying our Prayers

We are all saying our prayers for Mike's Uncle Mike who underwent a double lung transplant yesterday. Early reports are that he did well in surgery and today they hope to take him off the ventilator. The biggest risk now and for the next little bit is that his body might reject the new lungs. Please keep him,Aunt Linda, and their family in your thoughts and prayers. We love you Uncle Mike!

New Nap Spot

Brooks is starting to give up his afternoon nap, however he still has to have some quite time. When he goes up for quiet time some days he still sleeps if he has had a busy day. On this particular day I went up to tell him his time was up and I couldn't find him! He had taken his blanket and pillow in the clubhouse and was sound asleep....................

He got this clubhouse for Christmas from Roger and Janice when he was 1 and he has played in it everyday since--now I guess it is the perfect napping spot!

Overcomming Fears

It seems in our lives we must all face a time to overcome some fears. It has taken Ty a full year but he has finally overcome the fear of ..................

the mechanical horse at the grocery store

he always watched Brooks ride and wanted to do it, but was just too scared, well finally within the last few weeks he decided to saddle up!

Rocky Mountain High Gardening

Traditionally in Colorado you can safely plant your garden on Mother's Day. After asking around town I guess Father's Day is more the norm at 9000 feet. I waited as long as I could and today the little boys and I planted our flowers.

Before......

After.......

Now if it will just fill in and grow a little bit before another freeze.

Ty mostly just played in the water, helping me 'water' as I planted

Not a really warm morning as you can by the coat.

I will take some pics so you can see the gardens progression through the summer..........or better yet, come out and see for yourself! (Oh and see the boys too)

Brooks' School Pics

Brooks' school recently took class pictures of the kids at Little Red Schoolhouse. They are available to view online so I wanted to send the link so everyone could see them. She took an individual pic of Brooks too, it is okay, but not great. Just click on the link, enter the one called school photos and then you'll see Brooks' name. There is also a section called group photos, this is where you'll find his class picture. (Brooks is a sprout) Again, not a great picture, but Brooks will be happy to have when he is bigger. His BFF is Porter, but he also plays with Lhotse, Deacon, and Avery. One of the pics lists every ones name. Enjoy.

Sweet Baby Cooper

Just some snap shots of Cooper.

I was trying to be 'artistic' and then dad handed Cooper a chip--so there is a dorito in all the rest of the shots!

I was trying to capture the baby before he is isn't a baby any more!

Brooks and His Bike

At our new house there is room for Brooks to ride his bike and "practice" without being on a main street. He is getting much better and more stable on the bike.

It is too bad his helmet has to be a full size adult helmet to fit his giant head! I need to find him a better one--more lightweight.

It is so nice to have a driveway and area where they can play away from the road!
