Fishing With Daddy on His Birthday

On Mike's birthday he took the afternoon off and we took the boys fishing.Brooks really loved it. He wished he could cast better, but that is coordination and just takes time to get good at casting.
Cooper really just liked being out at the lake. He did fish a little, but mostly just tangled lines and threw rocks in the water.
This was fish #2. It was on Mike's rod, but we let Brooks reel it in and 'catch' it.
None of the boys would touch the fish. I had to show them it was okay to touch it. (job requirement of being a boy mom)

Brooks waving to the fish as we released him back to the water.
Ty then decided it was just cool to wade out in the water!Brooks was having trouble fishing 'around' him--i'm sure there were words being exchanged quirky little guy
Ty wanted no part of the fish on his line. Mike knew he would be freaked by it, and of course he was the one to first catch a fish. i love these shots of him, backing up and studying the situation
He finally took a hold of the rod for a picture, but you can tell he didn't want to.Mike and I were both surprised we caught 2 fish, and now the boys will think that is how it always goes. The best part was that we were about 15 minutes from home and it made home in time for nap. It is so fun now that the boys are getting bigger and we can take advantage of our mountain living.

Holy Birds Batman.........Hummingbirds

This is the way our hummingbird feeder usually looks. One maybe two birds at a time. then it started to really pick up
This is what our feeder looks like now...........they are going crazy! I had some trouble trying to get these pictures because they were swarming me and giving me the creeps. I'm afraid they may know something I don't about our impending fall and winter. This feeder holds 4 cups of hummingbird food and they are drinking it down in about 6 hours. I am going to need to budget for sugar.
I finally just had to let it run out of food in the hopes they would leave and forget where it had been. No such luck. I refilled it after we got home from Oklahoma and they were instantly back in full force. My camera is great. I can get some really neat pictures.i love this picture--he looks like he is coming in for a crash landing

Campfire with Evan & Mimi

The boys love having a campfire, so when Evan was in town we had to have a fire and make smores."just right"

Cooper relaxing while he eats his smore
You will notice that Ty is missing, he was inside--not much of an outside kid

We had fun and a yummy dessert.

Sleeping With His Snake

I have so many things to blog about....and really no time to work on it right now. So I will leave you with this quick post about Ty sleeping with his FAKE snake.
I don't know if you can tell or not but he had his finger in the snake's mouth. Just not something you expect to see when you go to check on your sleeping boy.Hopefully with the weekend finally upon us and a temporary fix on my computer I can get some more posts done in the next few days.

Hiking the Caves

When my Mom brought Evan up to Crested Butte Brooks was not going to let them miss hiking the caves. Evan is very interested in rocks and crystals so this sounded great to him.
It is quite a hike, and it was very warm, but everyone did great.
This is at the top. I think it is a great picture!
You mean we have to go back down?!?!?

Great views from the top.
going clear in the cave
Brooks and Evan went clear up into the caves, we waited for them at the opening. (it is very steep and rocky)
Mimi deciding she would just stay, rather than navigate back down the high & steep trail........

Coming down Brooks decided he was done. He had slipped a few times and didn't want to go any further. Instead of moving aside he just stopped right in the trail.
We had a great hike and Brooks was so glad to share the caves with Evan and Mimi.

Reese's Birthday

Just a few pictures from Reese's (4th) birthday party. The boys had fun playing in the yard and Reese had a great party. Hard to have patience for reading the cards--i love the look on her face.
Opening her rocking chair from Mimi and Papa--she seemed to really like it.Her response when asked who was ready for cake. I'm sure Brooks' hand was up too--it was all he could talk about the entire party.
Happy Birthday Reese!
